2019 Senior Selection Policy
The British Equestrian Federation (BEF) has today, 9 January 2019, published the Senior Selection Policy for the FEI European Championships, FEI Nations Cup series and FEI World Breeding Eventing Championships for Young Horses.
For 2019, the FEI European Championships are hosted at Luhmühlen, Germany, from 29 August to 1 September 2019, and the selection policy is a vital part of ensuring that the selection process is fair, open and transparent.
The policy is shared with the BEF World Class riders before being published to provide the opportunity for feedback, and the selection policy, its process and application is governed through the role of the Independent Chair.
British Eventing Chief Executive, David Holmes, commented; “The criteria for selection, set out in the policy, are focused around results from competitions which have a direct bearing on the objectives set out in the policy, along with the fitness of horse and rider.
“All selectors take their roles and responsibilities incredibly seriously to ensure that the combinations they are selecting are the right ones to maintain our medal winning philosophy and culture, and in doing so are bound by confidentiality in terms of communicating detailed reasons behind the selection of combinations.”
