Without our coaches, we would not have our sport. From introducing people to eventing and bringing on the bright new stars of the future, to keeping experienced riders at the top of their game, BE Accredited Coaches are always hard at work keeping our riders at peak performance.
If you're looking for a coach in your area, take a look at our directory of BE Accredited Coaches.
We recognise that different levels of rider may require different coaching skills and experience, which is why each BE Accredited Coach is placed into one of three categories based on their qualifications and background. All three categories of BE Accredited Coach are required to hold public liability insurance, a current first aid certificate and a safeguarding children workshop certificate and be DBS (formerly CRB) checked.
Development coach is an entry level category for coaches who have experience of coaching grassroots eventers and a good level of knowledge and experience around the sport of eventing, ideally through competing. Coaches in this category are required to have completed and passed one or more of the following qualifications:
- BECC Level 2 (UK Coaching Certificate (UKCC) endorsed)
- Level 2 (UKCC endorsed) generic/other member body specific
- Level 3 (UKCC endorsed) generic
- BHS Stage 4 Senior Coach (previously BHSII) plus an eventing specific assessment.
The BE Coach category is held by the majority of BE Accredited Coaches and covers those who are working with riders competing up to and including CCI3* level. They must have an extensive knowledge of the sport of eventing, ideally through competing or working with teams at Pony Club, riding club or regional BE Level. New BE coaches will be required to have completed and passed either a discipline specific Level 3 (UKCC endorsed) or BHS Stage 5 Performance Coach (previously BHSI) plus an eventing specific assessment.
The Master Coach category contains coaches who have a proven record of coaching combinations at CCI4*/5* level, are a BHS Fellow (FBHS) and/or coach for an elite or International world class Senior team on a regular basis.
